Nwodim joined *SNL* during its 44th season in 2018 as a featured player, and was promoted to repertory status in 2020. She ultimately appeared on the show for seven seasons.

The comedian announced that she had "decided to leave" *SNL* in September. "I am immensely grateful to Lorne [Michaels] for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship," she wrote in an Instagram post at the time. "Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories (and that laughter) with me always."

Since exiting *SNL*, Nwodim has performed on the Lincoln Center stage in New York City as part of *The Comedy Series*, and also launched the second season of her podcast *Thanks Dad*. She reunited with her former *SNL* castmate Heidi Gardner, who also departed the show ahead of season 51, in an episode of the podcast.

"Getting to spend seven years of my time on *SNL* with you, one of life's greatest gifts, it's not the easiest place to work, but you were such a huge gift," Gardner told Nwodim on the podcast.

Walker joined *SNL* as a featured player during season 48 in 2022. He was promoted to repertory status in 2024.

The comedian announced that he would not return for season 51 in August. "Me and baby broke up," he wrote on social media at the time. "Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But we did what we made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f‑‑‑ed up lil family."

Walker later elaborated on why he called *SNL* "toxic" in an interview with *Variety*.

"There is a measure of humanity that the show could benefit from," Walker said. "What ends up happening over the summer is oftentimes people are left hanging with big life decisions — people trying to start families or buy homes — and there's no word from the show about whether they have their job. The show won't tell them all summer and then will ultimately end up firing them when there's been months of them trying to work their situation out."**
