Two males have been convicted of homicide on Tuesday, February 27, in relation to the 2002 dying of Run-DMC's Jam Master Jay.
Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr. have been discovered guilty by a Brooklyn grand jury, based on CNN. Washington, 59, who was a childhood good friend of Jay, and Jordan Jr., 40, Jay's godson, every face a sentence of 20 years to life in jail.
Each males have been arrested in 2020 and pleaded not responsible.
Jay, born Jason Mizell, was the DJ for Run-DMC, the trailblazing hip-hop group which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Corridor of Fame in 2009. He was fatally shot in New York Metropolis in October 2002, dying on the age of 37.

Following Tuesday's verdict, Jay's cousin, Carlis Thompson, stated outdoors the courtroom that he was grateful that the case was finally solved greater than 20 years later.
"It's undoubtedly a very long time coming. Justice delayed is just not all the time justice denied," he stated. "Jason himself was a tremendous expertise. Life ended far, far too quickly, and I'm simply glad that justice was served."

Run-DMC members Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels shared a press release addressing the choice on Tuesday.
"We're thankful this trial has come to an end and will hopefully give some closure to Jay's family," they famous via X. "Jay will all the time hold a special place within the hearts of all his associates & the individuals he inspired + gave a chance. He is the guts and soul of RUN DMC, we'll perpetually miss him."

"It's no thriller why it took years to indict and arrest the defendants," he stated. The decision comes one month earlier than the 40th anniversary of Run-D.M.C.'s 1984 self-titled debut album, which included a monitor titled "Jam Master Jay." The music praised Jay, because the group rapped that he's "on his means / to be the most effective DJ in the US of A."
Washington and Jordan have been initially indicted in August 2020 for conspiracy to kill the DJ in retaliation for a drug dispute.
A 3rd defendant, Jay Bryant, was charged in Might 2023 with homicide. He was already in custody for drug related expenses. Bryant pleaded not guilty to his homicide cost and is about to go on trial individually in January 2026.
