Jason Kelce's bedtime story skills aren't aren't always up to snuff with his wife Kylie Kelce.
The retired NFL player, 38, revealed on the Dec. 3 episode of his and brother Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast that one of his bedtime stories did not go over well with his wife, 33, after it ended up scaring his daughter Elliotte Ray, 4.
"They'll tell me sometimes, the girls will tell me they want one of their stuffed animals in the story or they want to be in the story themselves," Jason shared. "And I'm like, alright. I'm about to do Pinocchio. And Ellie's like, 'Oh, put, I forget what stuffed animal it was. Put Slothy… in the story.' I was like, okay, right?"
"'One night, Ellie wished upon a star, and Slothy came to life.' And her eyes went just [wide] and she didn't move, and she was just holding the stuffed animal," he recalled. "And I got through the— I had a Jiminy Cricket figurine. I had a whole conscience thing going on and everything."

However, the former Philadelphia Eagles player said the slight change with putting his daughter's stuffed animal in the story didn't turn out as well as he had hoped.
"The only thing after the story, Ellie was just so terrified that she was holding [the stuffed animal]," said Jason, as Travis, 36, laughed at the story and exclaimed, "This is so good."
"Kylie was furious. She's like, 'What the f--- is wrong with you?' " Jason shared.

While that story wasn't a winner, the former football center said he was still a fan of telling his and Kylie's daughters Elliotte, Wyatt Elizabeth, 6, Bennett Llewellyn, 2, and Finnley "Finn" Anne, 8 months, bedtime stories and had made it a habit.
"I like singing to the girls at bedtime," he shared. "I'm a big fan of telling stories."
"Here's the thing. There are so many f------- kids books, and I'm gonna be honest … I don't think that everybody should be having children's books," he explained. "I'm into the Dr. Seuss', the freaking three little pigs. I like the stories that have survived a long time, and there's a reason for these iterations existing."

He noted that those stories are easier to "correlate" important life lessons to and used The Boy Who Cried Wolf as an example of teaching his kids not to lie.
"Lying makes people not trust you, and eventually, that's a bad thing to do. Yeah. And here's a story that correlates why you shouldn't do that, and it ends up really bad," Jason said on New Heights.
"So a lot of times, I just end up telling those stories or I make stories up that are off of those old stories," he added.
