A woman says that her unemployed husband constantly complains that her work schedule is inconvenient for him — and she's wondering if she should start looking for another job or simply ignore him.
The woman shared her story in the "Am I Being Unreasonable?" forum on the U.K.-based community site Mumsnet.com, a place where women can go to seek advice from other women about a variety of topics. In her post, the woman shared that her husband does not currently work due to "health reasons," and that she works "part-time."
She went on to say that their current schedule means that her husband takes their kids to school "a couple days a week" and also looks after them "one weekend day."

However, the original poster (OP) said that her husband has been "complaining about this," and tells her she should get a job that "fits around school hours" with no weekend work.
"I'm fed up [with] coming home to him moaning that he's had to look after his own children," she said, adding, "In the week he does one school drop-off and one pick up. He has the rest of the day/days to do as he pleases."

"I've told him how lucky he is to get to spend this time with [his children]. I don't get a day with them without him. I would quite like that as I don't find it stressful," she said.

"AIBU [am I being unreasonable] expecting my husband to look after our children while I'm at work? If most agree I am, then I will look for another job that suits our family better," the OP said at the end of her post.
The vast majority of commenters were quick to tell the OP that she is not unreasonable to expect her husband to contribute his fair share to the family workload.
"If he's home all day then, yes, he needs to be doing drop off and pick ups and caring for his own children," one person said, adding, "Instead he expects you to work around school time only so he doesn't have to do anything. I wouldn't be putting up with this setup."
"Well, he needs to actually contribute to family life. If he can't work he needs to be caring for the kids/home! If he does neither then what's the point of him being there?" someone else said.

"You should get a job around school hours … so the one thing he does is now your job as well? Which makes him completely redundant since he does no chores and doesn't work," another person said, adding, "I feel for him being unwell and not being able to work. But complaining about the only job [he has] is rich."
