Martha Stewart is speaking out against President Donald Trump's ongoing deportation campaign, which has sparked protests in Minneapolis.
The celebrity chef took to social media Monday to reveal that, at the urging of her granddaughter, she decided to condemn both the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents against migrants and against peaceful protesters demonstrating in the streets of the Minnesota city.
"Granddaughter Jude wrote me a note yesterday I took it to heart and posted the above," Stewart, 84, wrote on Instagram Jan. 26 alongside a screenshot of the message.
"I'm not sure it's excusable to not being speaking up right now," Jude wrote in a message to Stewart, according to the photo.

Why Martha Stewart always brings two phones with her on a trip
In response, the cookbook author wrote on Instagram: "She is fourteen and sensitive to what is going on in our country as we all should be.
"I am disheartened and sad each and every day that we cannot demonstrate our sympathy for the beleaguered," she continued. "We are told immigrants, which most of us are or descended from are unwelcome, that we cannot show our frustration in peaceful demonstrations and that we can be attacked and even killed by Federal troops."
Stewart, a celebrated TV food and lifestyle expert, has spoken out about Trump before, with whom she once worked on an offshoot of his reality program "The Apprentice."

"Things must and have to change quickly and peacefully," she concluded.
In recent days, tension over ICE's crackdown has boiled over in Minneapolis, whipped into a fervor by two high-profile shootings. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen, earlier this month. Good was protesting against ICE agents who descended upon the Twin Cities in recent weeks.

Protester Alex Pretti was also killed by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis this month. In both instances, the Trump administration has characterized the shootings as an act of self-defense, while local authorities have pointed to video evidence that appears to show that Pretti wasn't brandishing a weapon.
