Patrick Dempsey gets sound advice on his scripts from his children
The Memory of a Killer star chatted with daytime talk show hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle about his new series, his marriage with wife Jillian Dempsey and their three kids

The Memory of a Killer star, 60, chatted with daytime talk show hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle about his new series, his marriage with wife Jillian Dempsey, and his three kids: daughter Talula, 23, and 18-year-old twin boys, Darby and Sullivan. During the conversation, Dempsey shared that he gets advice from his children on his scripts.
"My daughter is very good at that and my son as well," he explained. "They are very straightforward when it comes to their opinion."
The actor and his wife first became parents in 2002 with the arrival of their daughter Talula. Just a few years later, the couple went on to welcome their twin boys, Darby and Sullivan. As his children have gotten older, Dempsey has shared that raising young adults is "harder" than taking care of little kids.
"You need to be around, but they don't want you around because they're fighting for their independence, which they should," he told PEOPLE in November 2023 after he was crowned PEOPLE's 2023 Sexiest Man Alive. "They need to find out how they interact in the world, they need to learn those boundaries, they need to make mistakes. And you need to be there for them and allow them to learn from that."
Last May, Dempsey posted a photo on Instagram of him and his wife attending their twin sons' high school graduation.
"Graduation!!" he wrote in the caption. "So proud of you boys and cannot wait to see where the next chapter of your lives will take you!" His wife added in the comment section, "🙌 🙌."
In the photo, the couple could be seen smiling while posing with their boys, who wore matching navy-blue graduation robes outdoors. The siblings graduated from the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica, California.

Darby reposted the sweet family photo on his Instagram along with snapshots of him shaking hands with a professor onstage as he collected his diploma and a photo of him joined by his older sister at the ceremony.
"Couldn't have asked for a better senior year," Darby wrote in the caption. Mom Jillian replied in the comment section, "Bby B I am so proud of you ❤️🙌❤️🐔," as sister Talula also commented," 🤙🤙🤙."
Sullivan, meanwhile, shared a photo on his Instagram Stories of him posing with a group of his "best friends" all sporting their graduation caps and robes indoors.
