Here's what you about Adams:

Who was Corey Adams?

Before he ever had the chance to suit up for Ole Miss football, Adams was shot and killed outside a house party outside a residence on Fern Glade Cove in Cordova, Tennessee. He was just 18 at the time of his death.

Adams, who was from New Orleans, starred at Edna Karr High School, which is just six miles from the Caesars Superdome, where Ole Miss defeated Georgia in the quarterfinal.

According to the Jackson Clarion Ledger ― part of the USA TODAY Network ― Adams' death has been talked about frequently during the Rebels' playoff run. The team has worn helmet stickers with his initials and number throughout the season.

"I feel like he's watching us, and he's guiding us through each game," star Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss said.

Adams was a three-star recruit after leading Edna Karr to a state championship as a senior. He was provided "life-saving measures," but pronounced dead on the scene. Adams was one of five shooting victims related to the incident.

His mother spoke to the team in New Orleans ahead of the Sugar Bowl.

"I'm standing for who Corey was as a person," Ole Miss linebacker TJ Dottery said. "He was a great person. He came to work every day. Even with the small amount of time I got with him from when he first stepped on campus, I watched him come to work every day and I watched him get better."
