Macaulay Culkin wouldn't be totally averse to starring in another *Home Alone* movie — in fact, he already has an idea for it.
The actor shared his "elevator pitch" for a potential follow-up to his two movies in the holiday movie franchise during a stop on his A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Culkin tour Sunday. The event, held at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, Calif., celebrated the 35th anniversary of *Home Alone*.
"I wouldn't be completely allergic to it," the 45-year-old told the audience of reprising his role as Kevin McCallister from the 1990 comedy and its 1992 sequel, *Home Alone 2: Lost in New York*, per PEOPLE. "It would have to be just right."

Culkin explained that his idea for continuing Kevin's story decades later features the character as "either a widower or a divorcee." He added, "I'm raising a kid and all that stuff. I'm working really hard and I'm not really paying enough attention and the kid is kind of getting miffed at me and then I get locked out."
Kevin's son "won't let me in," and instead of defending his home against invaders like Kevin did with Joe Pesci's Harry and Daniel Stern's Marv, "he's the one setting traps for me."
Culkin explained that "the house is some sort of metaphor for our relationship, [serving as a way to] 'get let back into his heart' kind of deal. That's the closest elevator pitch that I have. I'm not completely allergic to it, the right thing."
The *Uncle Buck *actor didn't say if he's been approached for a formal sequel or if he's shared this idea with anyone official to kickstart a real production, but he isn't the only person who has weighed in on a potential sequel.

Filmmaker Chris Columbus, who helmed the 1990 Christmas classic and *Home Alone 2: Lost in New York*, told *Entertainment Tonight* over the summer that he doesn't believe the franchise needs any more films.
"It was a very special moment, and you can't really recapture that," Columbus said. "I think it's a mistake to try to go back and try to recapture something we did 35 years ago. I think it should be left alone."

While Culkin and Columbus were only part of the first two films, a third and fourth installment, as well as a 2021 Disney+ reboot have followed, all with different casts.

Columbus said the proximity of *Lost in New York* to the original movie justified its existence as a sequel. "That was immediate, so we had the same cast and everyone was about the same age," he told the outlet. The director shared that he hadn't even expected the original *Home Alone* to maintain an audience 35 years later.
"We wanted people to still enjoy the movie 20 years down the road, but we had no concept that it would still be sort of this locomotive that keeps going after all these years," he explained. "It's a very nostalgic experience for a lot of people, which is great."**
