Who is singing the national anthem at Lions-Packers Thanksgiving game?

The Lions announced Nov. 16 that CeCe Winans will be performing the national anthem at their Thanksgiving game against the Packers.

Detroit referred to Winans as a "renowned gospel musician" in a press release announcing her performance.

Winans will headline the pregame entertainment for fans while Detroit-native musician and former White Stripes front man Jack White will be the halftime entertainment for the holiday game.

Who is CeCe Winans?

Winans is an American gospel singer who is the best-selling female gospel artist of all time and has won 17 Grammy Award over her decades-long musical career.

Winans was born in Detroit as one of 10 children to David Winans Sr. and Delores Winans. The family became renowned gospel artists when four of her older brothers – Marvin, Carvin, Michael and Ronald – formed a gospel quartet known as "The Winans."

Winans began her career as part of gospel duo with one of her older brothers, BeBe Winans, but eventually launched a successful solo career. The 61-year-old has thus far produced 14 studio albums but is best known for her collaboration with Whitney Houston – with whom Winans was close friends and godmother to Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown – on "Count on Me."

Winans has stars on both on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville.
