Zoey Deutch revealed how she knew fiancé Jimmy Tatro was going to propose during an appearance on The Tonight Show on Nov. 26

Deutch also shared why she doesn't like to call Tatro her fiancé
Zoey Deutch's fiancé, Jimmy Tatro, was trying to pull off a surprise proposal — but she says she totally "saw it coming."
During a Nov. 26 appearance on The Tonight Show, the Anniversary star, 31, told host Jimmy Fallon how she knew that Tatro, 33, was planning to pop the question while the couple was on vacation in Corsica.
While Deutch recalled that Tatro's proposal was "romantic" and "perfect," she said it wasn't a surprise. "I probably shouldn't say it, but I saw it coming. I felt it a little," she told Fallon, 51, before explaining what tipped her off.
"We were on vacation in Corsica, and I had meticulously planned the trip — I moonlight as a travel agent," she joked. "And we arrived there, and he tried, nonchalantly, to be like, 'Hey, so I planned dinner on Monday.' And I was like, 'So did I. I'm sure you saw on the Google doc.' "
Deciding that she would "be nice," Deutch simply told Tatro, "Okay." However, her easy acceptance of his plan raised a red flag for Tatro.
"He knew that I knew. He immediately — I found out later — texted my best friend and was like, 'She didn't ask one question. She didn't ask what restaurant, what type of food, how do you know it's a good restaurant. She knows!' " Deutch explained.
She continued: "Also, the next night, when I was getting dressed, I was trying on things and I put on a white dress, and he was like, 'Okay, love that. Should you wear that on Monday?' I was like, 'Jimmy!' "

After Fallon noted that Tatro was "giving all the hints," the Not Okay actress pointed out, "But I didn't know how he would do it or what he would say or what the ring would look like. And so I was surprised by all those things."
She said the engagement was "one of the best nights of my life" — but she can't get used to calling Tatro her fiancé.
"Fiancé is such a weird word. It just sounds a little pretentious," she explained, joking, "It's like, 'my fiancé,' so I just sort of say 'my Beyoncé.' "

Deutch and Tatro — who began dating in 2021 — announced their engagement on Instagram on Sept. 28, sharing a series of photos of the You're Cordially Invited actor's beach proposal. "Three months engaged to the love of my life," Deutch captioned the post.
Deutch's mother, actress Lea Thompson, celebrated her daughter's happy news with an Instagram post of her own that same day.

Thompson, 64, added: "I am so glad Zoey and you have each other."
