- The White House has responded to Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin's criticism of Donald Trump on a recent episode of *The View*.

- A spokesperson called the pair "useful idiots" with "no talent," using a name Hostin called Trump on the air.

- Moments earlier, Goldberg called for the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office over mental issues.

The White House has taken aim at* The View* cohosts after Whoopi Goldberg made an impassioned plea on the air for the use of the 25th Amendment to oust Donald Trump from office over mental issues.

Goldberg began Wednesday's live show by pointing out major concerns over Trump's recent behavior on the world stage, including what many have called a threatening desire to overtake Greenland, and his reactions to ICE's shooting death of Minnesota mother Renee Nicole Good.

The 70-year-old said on the air that "it's time" to use the 25th Amendment — which allows the vice president and cabinet to deem a sitting president to be unfit to hold office — to remove Trump from his post. Panelist Sunny Hostin later called Trump a "useful idiot" who might help problematic world leaders in global politics execute personal agendas.

When reached for comment on the cohosts' words, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle replied to ** with an email statement.

"Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin [are] a pair of useful idiots that have no talent and very poorly rated TV show," the statement alleges, though an ABC network report indicated that, for the week of Jan. 5, the show posted its highest ratings in nine months to rank No. 1 in households and total viewers (around 2.6 million) upon its return from a holiday hiatus. The numbers put the show above other similar shows like the third hour of *Today*, *Today With Jenna & Friends*, and *NBC News Daily*.

Still, Ingle's statement continues, "President Trump will continue to deliver on his commonsense America First agenda that nearly 80 million Americans voted for."

EW has reached out to a representative for Goldberg and Hostin at *The View* for a response to the White House's statement.

This is far from the first time the White House has lashed out at the cohosts of *The View*. Earlier this month, the White House released a statement to EW slamming Hostin and Ana Navarro as "liberal pundits" for their commentary on Trump's raid on Venezuela that led to the ouster of the country's controversial leader, Nicolás Maduro.

In September, after Joy Behar defended Jimmy Kimmel amid the talk show host's temporary ABC suspension following his comments about the death of Charlie Kirk, the White House again criticized the panelist's views.

"Per usual, Joyless Behar is wrong about many things," the statement read at the time.

Both the White House and the Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr made several statements about the show throughout 2025, with Carr even telling Fox News in July of that year that there could be "consequences" for the program over what he felt was a liberal bias.

*The View* airs weekdays on ABC.
