"You always get people who get engaged [at] Christmas ... I kinda like the idea of it not being at a time where it could be expected," Hughes told The Sun's Fabulous Magazine
The couple — who met on season 24 of Celebrity Big Brother U.K, which began filming in April 2025 — are spending the holidays together at Hughes' family home in the Cotswolds in England
A wedding might be on the cards at some point for JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes, but it doesn't look like he'll be popping the question over the holidays.
While speaking to The Sun's Fabulous Magazine in a joint interview, Siwa, 22, insisted that if Hughes, 33, hadn't proposed in seven years, she might take the matter into her own hands.
Hughes told the outlet in footage shared on Instagram while talking about a possible engagement, "You always get people who get engaged [at] Christmas. You see it on Instagram, every year you're gonna see somebody who gets engaged. I kinda like the idea of it not being at a time where it could be expected."

Siwa jokingly responded, "Alright, you're keeping me guessing, aren't you?" questioning during the interview, "But what if I got him a ring?"
Hughes insisted, "I don't agree with it," as Siwa asked, "But what if I did? You'd say no?"
"I've [spoken] to people about this before you, obviously. And I actually said, 'I think if I was proposed to, that would make me really uncomfortable,'" the former Love Island star added to the outlet.
Siwa has agreed to wait, but warned her other half that if he waits too long, she will have to pop the question herself.
"Listen, I wouldn't do it unless you waited like seven years," the Dance Moms alum told the magazine. "And then I'd be like, 'Alright, my ass is getting down on the knee then.' If you waited too long, I'd be like, 'Okay.' "
Hughes replied, "It shouldn't take you seven years to work out if you want to marry someone. So you can go off that and then that won't ever happen," as Siwa joked, "Just so you know, on May 27th, 2032, I will be down on one knee. I will not wait one extra day!"

The couple — who met on season 24 of Celebrity Big Brother U.K, which began filming in April 2025 — are now gearing up to spend their first Christmas together at Hughes' family home in the Cotswolds in England.
"It's my first Christmas away from my family – and in England, too!" Siwa told the magazine, adding that the pair would be spending the week before Christmas with her family in Los Angeles.
This isn't the first time Siwa and Hughes, who started as close friends before their relationship turned romantic, have spoken out about a possible wedding.
While appearing as a guest on a September episode of the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Siwa revealed that Hughes had been helping her view love in a much different light.
"I'm happy. I've never wanted the future so bad. I've never, ever wanted the love that I have to just continue to grow," the "Karma" singer said.
Siwa, who confirmed her relationship with Hughes over the summer, during a June 2 interview with The Guardian, continued, "I've never craved a wedding. I've always wanted to just like go sign a piece of paper or go to Vegas 'cause I didn't wanna have a wedding, but now I'm like, 'No, I want a ring and I want my Dad to walk me down the aisle and I want a first dance and I want butterflies.'"
"I'm happy," she shared.
Prior to her relationship with the English television personality and sports presenter, Siwa came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
During the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, she admitted her dating public choices have not gone without "backlash."
"It is hard because it feels like my own family has turned a little bit. And I think we are the LGBTQIA+ family, not the LG community and it's a beautiful rainbow and the number one saying of the queer community is love is love," Siwa said.
She continued, "And that goes both ways … just because I am in a heterosexual relationship that doesn't discredit my past."

Siwa is adamant that any criticism she does receive will not change how she feels about Hughes.
"I think older people in the community need to realize the way that you treat me in this situation doesn't affect me, I promise, at all. I'm very happy. I'm very loved. I give a lot of love. I'm feeling very loved. I am in a great place," the reality star said at the time.
