Prince Harry is fighting for the chance to headline his own Christmas film this season.
The Duke of Sussex made a surprise appearance on *The Late Show With Stephen Colbert *on Wednesday to audition for a role in a fictional royal-inspired Hallmark holiday movie — and he managed not only to land the role, but also take a few jabs at Donald Trump.
Host Stephen Colbert began the hilarious sketch by acknowledging just how many Christmas flicks are dropping this year — shouting out **'s own movie guide along the way— before adding that he considers the entire movie genre to be "a little problematic."
"They give people the unrealistic expectation that during the holiday season they're just gonna bump into some prince at their job or walking down the street," Colbert said.
At that moment, Harry walked on stage. "Excuse me, Stephen?" he asked.

The 41-year-old author and humanitarian then explained that he stopped by the set because he thought he was auditioning for a movie called *The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska*.
But Colbert couldn't understand why a real-life royal would ever be interested in playing a fictional one in a Hallmark holiday film.**
"Well, you Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies, and you're clearly obsessed with royalty, so why not?" Harry replied.
"Hold on, hold on. I wouldn't say we're obsessed with royalty," Colbert contested. To which Harry responded, "Really? I heard you *elected* a king."
The Duke of Sussex was referencing President Trump, who likened himself to a king in a February social media post. The White House also showed support for the idea at the time by sharing an AI-generated image of Trump wearing a crown.
However, ahead of the nationwide No Kings events protesting his administration last month, Trump denied any affiliation with royalty. "They're referring to me as a king," he said on Fox News' *Sunday Morning Futures*. "I'm not a king."

Harry's comment drew swift boos from the audience, but he wasn't done just yet, adding, "And after making such a big deal about my great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather, George III!"
To which Colbert could only respond, "Well, he was kind of a jerk."**
When Harry asked what he needed to do to land a role in the Hallmark Christmas movie of his dreams, Colbert was quick to remind him that show business is all about who you know.
"Do you have a personal connection to any famous TV actresses?" the host asked, making a not-so-subtle nod to Harry's wife, *Suits* alum Meghan Markle.
The prince joked, "I mean, I might know one."

But Harry is ready to blaze his own trail, too. "I'll do anything. I'll record a self-tape," he said. "I'll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House — all the things you people in TV do!"
The latter, of course, was a knock against CBS' parent company, Paramount, which paid $16 million to settle a lawsuit with Trump over the network's *60 Minutes* interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
"Harry, I didn't do any of those things," Colbert said, to which the royal quipped, "Maybe that's why you're cancelled."
The prince then worried that his Christmas stardom wasn't meant to be. "Oh, who am I kidding? I'm never gonna be an American Hallmark prince," he lamented. "And now I'm stuck here spending the holiday season in your quaint little village of Midtown Manhattan."
However, it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas as the background shifted behind him and Colbert to reveal a group of snow-dusted trees and a jolly snowman.
"Stephen, look! It's snowing!" Harry exclaimed.
"This isn't snow," Colbert replied. "They're just already starting to tear down the Ed Sullivan Theater. This is asbestos!"
But Harry had already been hit with the holiday spirit. "Stephen, you just have to believe!" he said. "Doesn't this prove anything can happen? I mean, minutes ago you said it was impossible, but look, isn't there a handsome prince standing in front of you right now?"
Swept up in the winter wonderland around them, the pair began awkwardly putting their hands on each other's shoulders and neck as if they were about to share a kiss.
"I know you want this," Colbert said, pausing before they could get any closer, "but I'm afraid I have to say: I was testing you. You've got the role."
"Ladies and gentlemen, Harry!" Colbert announced. "The official* Late Show* Prince of Christmas!"
