Jerry O'Connell is giving his daughters advice on their dating lives.
The Pictionary host, 51, recently chatted with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos during the Tuesday, Dec. 23 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, where he shared how he feels about his teenage twin daughters — Dolly and Charlie, 16 — starting to date boys.
O'Connell, who shares his girls with wife Rebecca Romijn, shares that he tries "to give them the benefit of the doubt," but always puts his daughters first. The proud dad recalled the advice he gave one of his daughters following a recent heartbreak.
"Recently, there was a little bit of heartbreak in our household. And I said to my daughter, 'Listen, these kind of things happen. Your mom has been wanting to leave me for a very long time," he teased. "And I said, 'You know what you have to do now?' My daughter was like, 'What?' 'You've got to go out with his best friend.'"

O'Connell shared that his daughter initially called him a "monster," but eventually came around to the idea.
"By the way, my daughter was like, 'What, you're a monster, why would you even say that?' " he continued. "And then slept on it the next day and was like, 'Uh, dad, I was thinking about what you were saying, and I threw a Snap to his friend. I'll see what happens. Be open to the universe, right, Dad? Be open to the universe.'"
Elsewhere in the segment, he gave other updates on his daughters, saying they're both still playing volleyball and are "a little mortified" by him in the stands.
"I'm not wild. I'm a verbal parent," O'Connell said. "Now, I never say anything about the opposing team. I never say anything about opponents. I only say positive things. If I do say something negative, it's usually [toward] my children. Like, 'Pay attention, the ball's coming.'"

He went on to demonstrate some of his cheers, which he said have been praised by the team's coach.
"I [left] town for a couple of weeks, and I wasn't there at the games. … And I came back, and the coach said, 'Oh, you're back,' " O'Connell recalled. "And my kids were there, who are always yelling at me for cheering and stuff. And the coach said, 'Good, because we need your energy. We need it.'"
O'Connell's wife also appreciates his energy at games.
"My wife is pretty amused by my antics; she has a fun time watching them," the actor said. "She doesn't yell and stuff."
Still, Romijn has a different behavior at the games. He said, "My wife at games — this is probably illegal — likes to bring a road soda. A roadie! And just sit there and enjoy the games."
