- A 10-year-old child has won a Pennsylvania mullet contest.

- The youth honored David Spade's* Joe Dirt* character with a recreation of the actor's look.

- Around 150 overall competitors clashed mullets at the event.

Approximately 150 mullets went to battle in the great state of Pennsylvania, with a 10-year-old child ultimately prevailing as the ultimate champion of a wild mullet contest in the heart of the commonwealth.

The competitor, Drew Fleschut, triumphed over the hairstyle competition with a sweet tribute to actor David Spade's 2001 comedy *Joe Dirt*, in which the* Saturday Night Live* alum played a janitor with a mullet fixed to the top of his head as a baby.

Fleschut's tribute to Spade included an outfit inspired by the actor's wardrobe in* Joe Dirt*, complete with a red plaid shirt and a large mop.**

The youngster was named the overall winner inside the venue at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg, Pa., where multiple mullets competed Monday morning among several different age brackets.

Beginning at around 11:30 a.m. local time and lasting through the afternoon, the competition saw contestants wearing everything from sleek and stylish mullets to teased-out, sky-high interpretations — with outlandish outfits to match.

One of such contestants, Alex Boose, explained his history with a mullet in an interview with a local news outlet.

"I just decided one day I wanted a mullet," Boose told the station. "Since then, I've been growing it out to where it is now."

Boose later added, "I think Pennsylvania is one of the best states that has mullets," and stressed, "I think Pennsylvania goes big or goes home."

In addition to overall mullet quality, the contest also included a prize for "most patriotic showcasing," which went to Kamden Cunningham.

Spade's *Joe Dirt *wasn't* *a critical or financial success at the time of release (it grossed around $31 million overall), though it spawned a cult following in subsequent years. Spade even reprised the role in a 2015 sequel, *Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser*, which premiered that year on the now-defunct Crackle service.
