The Valentino founder, who dressed a wide range of stars from Princess Diana and Jackie Kennedy to Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway, died "at his Roman residence, surrounded by his loved ones," his foundation shared on Jan. 19. He was 93.

Paltrow took to Instagram to share a selfie with Valentino and write that she was "so lucky to know and love Valentino — to know the real man, in private."

"The man who was in love with beauty, his family, his muses, his friends," the "Marty Supreme" star said. "His dogs, his gardens, and a good Hollywood story."

Kim Kardashian shared a broken heart emoji on her Instagram story alongside a photo of herself with Valentino, and she paid tribute to the "sweet" designer. "You were magical, so special," she wrote. "Thank you for your magic."
