Chris Pratt revealed in a new podcast interview that he almost went by a different name when he became a full time actor
The 46-year-old Mercy star originally received the unique moniker while working as a waiter at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company
He said he considered keeping the nickname "in earnest" when debating his next career steps
Chris Pratt was almost not one of Hollywood's famous Chrises.
The 46-year-old Mercy star opened up about a pre-fame nickname he had that he considered keeping as his stage name when he went into the entertainment business.
"Not even rebranded, just branded. I was gonna be 'Christo,' " Pratt shared on the Thursday, Jan. 22 episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "I had a name tag that said Christopher, but at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company, the P H E R part got rubbed off, so it said Christo."
Pratt said that during his time as a waiter, his co-workers knew him by the moniker.
"Everyone called me Christo for a long time," he shared. "While I was working at Bubba Gump, high turnover rate, new employees thought my name was Christo."
The name was such a big part of his life at the time, that he considered transitioning it into his Hollywood career shift.

"As I navigated being discovered and brought to Los Angeles to follow my dreams, part of me thought — in earnest — maybe I'd go, 'It's just Christo.' "
But instead, Pratt decided to simply go by "Chris," putting him in a category alongside fellow actors Chris Pine, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth.
"I think someone on this press tour called me Chris Pine," Pratt admitted. "Yeah, don't think they mistake me, think it's just the alliteration."
These days, Pratt is staying busy, but also focusing on being there for his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, and his four young children — Lyla, 5, Eloise, 3, Ford, 1, whom he shares with Schwarzenegger, and Jack, 13, whom he shares with ex Anna Faris.

"I'm trying more and more to prioritize my wife and kids as much as I can," Pratt shared, noting that he chose to film his new movie, Mercy, because it was filming in Los Angeles.
Pratt spoke with PEOPLE about preparing for the role back in Oct. 2025 at New York Comic Con.
"I had an opportunity to work with the LAPD and their homicide division, and so I was able to go down and talk to those guys," Pratt told PEOPLE at the time, adding that he performed stunts while working alongside the police. "It was really incredible. I mean, some of the stunt work we did was really great."
