Is it better to give or receive?
It's the age-old question this time of year, where gift-giving takes centerstage. Ultimately, that answer is a matter of preference. While the latest tech-gadget under the tree certainly sparkles, there is something to be said about the look on someone else's face when they unwrap the gift that is perfect for the person it's intended for.
When it comes to NFL receivers, however, we know that receiving is much better than giving. It's a position that has always been run by the "me-first" mindset, for better or worse.
There is also the chance for the best of both worlds.
If you pick the right receivers, they might just give you a fantasy football championship in Week 17. That's a trophy and a year's worth of bragging rights that you can't just buy at the local big box store.
USA TODAY Sports breaks down five wide receiver options worth further consideration to start or sit in Week 17:
Fantasy football start 'em: Week 17 WRsCourtland Sutton, Denver Broncos (at Kansas City Chiefs)
The Chiefs have been leaking oil for most of the season. At this point, they've already run out and packed it in. Imagine someone saying a month ago that Kansas City would lose to the Tennessee Titans with Chris Oladokun playing most of the game. Exactly.
On the flip side, the Broncos will look to get back on track after losing to the Jaguars at home. They find themselves in a great spot heading into Christmas night. The weather outside has gotten colder, but that hasn't stopped Sutton from heating up. The receiver has touchdowns in three of his last four games and now faces a group that is already booking vacations. Sometimes it doesn't have to be difficult. Trust the players that got you to this point.
DJ Moore, Chicago Bears (at San Francisco 49ers)
The Bears have no shortage of potential injury issues in the receiver room, leaving Moore as one of the last standing in Chicago. It certainly paid off in Week 16 after Moore hauled in the game-winning touchdown to cap off the Bears' miracle comeback against the Packers. Now the receiver sheds the frigid weather for a trip to California, where the temperatures are expected to be much more tolerable.
Alec Pierce just shredded San Francisco's defense with a pair of touchdowns and topped 80 receiving yards on "Monday Night Football." Now the 49ers have a short week and have to prepare their wounded defense for a matchup with Ben Johnson's team. Talk about a recipe for disaster. With three touchdowns in his last two games, Moore is primed to add to that total in Week 17.
Jakobi Meyers, Jacksonville Jaguars (at Indianapolis Colts)
Everyone in the world might be hopping on the Parker Washington bandwagon after he torched the Broncos for 145 yards and a touchdown last week. Those numbers are certainly notable, but he did finish behind both Meyers and Brian Thomas Jr. in snaps – meaning we shouldn't necessarily expect a repeat performance.
Meyers has been consistent since arriving in Jacksonville and did manage to score a touchdown in his last meeting against Indianapolis on Dec. 7. In fact, it will be the receiver's third contest against the Colts this season. Considering the injury issues for the Colts and Meyers' familiarity with the defense, this could be a big week for him in what is a red-hot Jaguars' offense.
Fantasy football sit 'em: Week 17 WRsEmeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at Miami Dolphins)
Egbuka was practically being fitted for a gold jacket after his start to the season. Consider that order canceled now. In terms of production, the rookie fell off a cliff as the season progressed and hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 10. He has only topped 50 yards once in that span and has single-digit fantasy point totals in each of the last six games. With Tampa getting receivers back into the lineup and their struggles on offense, there are simply too many mouths to feed for Egbuka to stand out. He can sit on the bench in the championship round.
Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals (at Cincinnati Bengals)
There have been multiple times in the 2025 season where it felt like "Maserati Marv" was about to break out. Instead, Harrison's fantasy production looks more like the defunct-Mercury car brand than anything resembling luxury. The receiver has missed four of the last six games and managed just one catch on three targets in Week 16.
Cincinnati's defense is a matchup that would have most salivating. We'd advise you to take another route and steer clear of a receiver that runs hot-and-cold.
