Milo Manheim would like his fans to know that he didn't keep his *Tangled* casting a secret from them; he didn't even know about it much longer than they did!
Disney revealed the two actors leading their live-action adaptation of the 2010 animated hit on Jan. 7, news that was shared with the chosen two — Manheim and Teagan Croft, playing Flynn Rider and Rapunzel, respectively — only minutes before it was revealed to the public, according to the *Dancing With the Stars *alum.
"It's important the world knows this! People think that I booked this like a long time ago and I've been keeping it a secret," Manheim lamented to ** during a recent interview. "I found out 10 minutes before the news was released that I'd be playing Flynn. So that day was — I woke up, just like any other day, and by the end of the day... it was beautiful. The world knew, it was great."

The 24-year-old actor, the son of actress Camryn Manheim, is best known for his work on Disney's musical movie series *Zombies *and the Paramount+ series *School Spirits. *In 2018, he appeared on *Dancing With the Stars*, coming in second place with partner Witney Carson, before he officially made his big screen debut in 2023's *Journey to Bethlehem. *More recently, he's been putting his musical skills to use in the role of Seymour in the off-Broadway revival of *Little Shop of Horrors*.
"It feels like thousands of people just got this role, it feels so genuinely happy," Manheim gushed of the support of his fans since the casting news was announced. "My skin was like tingling that day. I was just flooded with dopamine, love, and everything."

Manheim, who will take over the role made famous by Zachary Levi in the animated film, added that he "can't wait" to get to work whenever production begins.
"I'm gonna really honor this movie and this role," he vowed. "I love *Tangled*, so here we go. Adventure of a lifetime."
EW reported in April that the movie would be helmed by Michael Gracey, the director of *The Greatest Showman*, while Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote *Thor: Love and Thunder*, would pen the screenplay.
The animated *film Tangled *is the story of Rapunzel with a modern twist, following a teenage girl with 70 feet of magical hair and a desire to leave the tower where she has been locked away for years, who encounters the handsome thief Flynn hiding there. They make a deal to leave and have quite an adventure.
Mandy Moore, of *This Is Us*, voiced Rapunzel alongside Levi as her Flynn. The supporting cast included Ron Perlman, Brad Garrett, Paul F. Tompkins, and Donna Murphy. The film was a hit, earning more than $591 million worldwide, spawning a TV series, and nabbing an Oscar nomination in the Best Original Song category for Alan Menken and Glenn Slater's tune "I See the Light."

The live-action version will introduce viewers to the relative newcomer that is Croft, an Australian actress who's appeared on TV series including the Australian soap opera *Home and Away* and the DC series *Titans*. She made her big screen debut in the 2016 Australian sci-fi film *The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One*.

The rest of the *Tangled *live-action cast is coming together, with reports that Kathryn Hahn is currently eyeing the role of baddie Mother Gothel. Disney has not confirmed a release date for the upcoming film.**
